What is the business case for staff augmentation? In what
situation does it make sense for you to bring in a contractor?
Staff augmentation is an outsourcing strategy used to quickly
staff a project, add missing skills, and/or bring better efficiency
and effectiveness to a work group. The advantage of this approach
is that it leverages existing resources as well as bringing in
outsourced services.
To decide if staff aug makes sense for you, here are three
tests:
- Evaluate your staff. Are they missing key
skills, and need outside expertise? Or are they competent but
simply stretched too thin?
- Evaluate your need. Is it urgent -- do you
need help meeting a project with a tight deadline? Or is it chronic
-- do you need help with an operational handicap that drags down
your momentum?
- Evaluate your budget. Can you afford
headcount, which is an ongoing expense? Or is this a capital budget
item, which is a one-time fixed cost?
StoneHenge Partners offers three ways to supplement your
staff:
- Contract. We will place a consultant in your
office, or in our office, who answers to you and acts as part of
your team. The contract can be for a month, a year or a decade, and
can be full-time or part-time.
- Contract-to-hire. If at the end of the
contract, you decide you want to keep our consultant, we'll be
happy to negotiate rolling over as permanent staff.
- Recruit. Our recruiters have more than 200
qualified, experience IT consultants in our pipeline -- either
existing StoneHenge consultants, job seekers, or professionals who
are currently employed but are interested in making a change. We
can match your organization with a person who has the skillset and
personality fit that's perfect for you.
