Case Study:
StaffMetric

StaffMetric (www.staffmetric.com) is a Tulsa-based web-application service provider that offers temporary staffing firms a web-enabled employee management and reporting system. Using the application, an on-site temporary staffer fills out timesheets, the client then reviews and approves the timesheets, and the staffing company imports the timesheet data into their back-office payroll system—all through a browser.

The Problem

Building a web application involves all of the challenges of software application development, including code development, data handling and validation, and back-office integration—plus all of the challenges of web design, including usability, cross-browser compatibility, and a client-branded look and feel. To solve those challenges in a methodical, systemic way, StaffMetric turned to StoneHenge Partners.

The Solution

StoneHenge Partners and StaffMetric together developed, implemented and deployed 400+ pages of ASP/DHTML. Through the course of the 10-month project, we analyzed, designed, and built upon the existing SQL Server databases and stored procedures; and designed the VB script and JavaScript functions, data validations and time-management validations, and COM objects and CSS-formatted page layouts—all in a cross-browser compliant environment.

The Result

The StaffMetric application, built by StoneHenge Partners and currently being deployed, offers these features:

  • Automatic timesheet approval
  • Automatic email reminders and notification
  • Standardized project and task descriptions
  • Task entries created to simplify time entry
  • Historical reporting by employee, project and task
  • Email Configuration for immediate notification of: Approved or rejected timesheets; failure to enter time within specified timeframe; and feedback on an employee from a client
  • Historical reporting available to both staffing service and client
  • Graphical & numerical formats
  • Export to Microsoft Excel
  • Product customized with the client's company's name and logo
  • Encrypted username and password to protect each transaction
  • Included ability to easily export data into back-office accounting/payroll systems
  • Online setup wizards for new employees/users
